Nominations for Spirit Awards

The Inukshuk, the symbol of the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, means ‘someone was here’ or ‘you are on the right path’ and both meanings are fitting for the new EGMHA Spirit Award.  The Spirit Award is meant to recognize individuals who, through their earnest contribution to community hockey, have made their presence felt.  The award will honour those who, through inspired action, generosity, compassionate behaviour, or kind gestures have brought the best aspects of the human spirit to our arena.

Please help us recognize these individuals or teams by submitting your nomination by April 10, 2010 to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Your submission may include a written story, picture(s) and or presentation about any individual player, volunteer or team that exemplify the above mentioned attributes that have been displayed in this 50th year of EGMHA's existence.

Awards this year have been sponsored by:

Individual Award: Scott Stephens and Crystal Eves
Volunteer Award: Laurie Giftochristos EZ Connections and Events
Team Award: The Town of East Gwillimbury

Submissions will be reviewed  by committee and winners will be announced at the Appreciation night on April 17th

Playoff Watch

The Minor Bantam 'A' team was eliminated in game 4 of the series in a difficult battle against Uxbridge. The boys should be proud of their effort in this playoff run, and of their overall development in this 2009/2010 season.

Best of luck Uxbridge in the OMHA finals.
